Vista wont boot no repair option in f8

Specs: Windows Vista
I have had a number of issues recently, NTLDR is Missing restart your computer, dual dskchk etc. Now the computer wont even get past the loading screen. It will just sit there and then reboot itself again. I tried safe mode in command prompt and it hangs up at crc whatever.

I tried using the f8 option to go to boot repair but there is no boot repair option in the list.

I am at a total loss right now. I believe the hard drive is failing and would just like to get it back up for a while so I can backup my files and then purchase a new HD.
What I have is an old Gateway 838gm with Vista home premium, upgraded video card and ram.

If you go to the hard drive manufacturers web site support section they will have Diagnostic Software to test the Hard Drive, usually via a Bootable CD.

If the hard drive IS failing then it is best to leave well alone, slave the drive to another PC and retreive the data.
