vista virus lock out

hi people. I got new laptop and I took the plunge with vista. Problem is I know nothing about it and I got some kind of virus/malware which I have deleted most of the files but it's locked me out of task manager/administrator account and with Vista I have no idea what I am doing. I can't stop it running in memory! Anyone got any ideas?I'd be very grateful for some wisdom Thanks dave.
