Actually I posted the 5536 and the next day the 5552. I guess the mod thought I was double posting and deleted the second one but they came out within 48 hrs of each other.

download.windowsvista.com/preview/prerc1/en/download.html only has 5536 at the moment. I didn't see 5552 on any of connect or msdn pages. I did see the blog with a link for 5552 torrent file, but by the time that would download the real 5552 will be officially available.

Tried to do an update install with 5536 and 5552. No go. Neither would boot after the install. The repair function wouldn't work either. Did a clean install with 5552 no problem.

Yeh, the 5472 did an upgrade no problem. Don't have a clue as to why 5536 and 5552 won't work.

That was probably why, I don't think you should be installing an upgrade over a prior upgrade.

I got the details below from another page.
Build 5536.16385 - Pre-RC1 build, built on August 21, originally released internally & later released to select CPP members on August 28.
Build 5552.16384 - Another Pre-RC1 build, built on August 22. ONLY released internally and leaked by a now-defunct M$ employee and released to the wild on August 25.
Build 5568.16384 - Final version of Vista RC1. Finalized on August 28 and released internally.
Build 5700 _ Post-RC1 build and part of the RTM build fork. Built on August 10 & older than the above listed builds & there are various other internal 57xx builds.
Build 6000 will be the build number of the final RTM version of Vista. Note, however, that the final compile's build number will be manually changed to this.
