Subject: vista ultimate use up alot of c driOS: Vista UltimateCPU/Ram: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2. |
Comment: I recent assembled a CPU and the specification is something like this: Processor: C2D E4600 Motherboard:Intel D945GCNL RAM: Transcend 2GB DDRII 667 Mhz HDD: Seagate 160GB OS: vista Ultimate I partitioned my C drive as 15GB. But when i install vista ultimate, it uses up more than 10GB. Is it normal? How can I free up my C drive?

Reply: (edit)Well to free up space on your drive, you can select not to have a system restore point. This is done by going to the control panel and then double clicking on system, and then click on advance options and then click on system restore and deselecting the system protection. Also you can go to disk clean up and select all, and let it clean up everything on your drive which will give you more space. Hibernation is a big issue on disk cleanup that takes up alot of space. Also you can go to the link below to get a couple more gigs. Go to the start option and then TYPE cmd and then TYPE vsp1cln.exe which will save a little you a little more space. Good luck Jim R

Reply: (edit)IMO 15GB is too small for the system partition for a dynamic operating system such as Windows Vista. You are liable to run into many problems. You should have make it at least 40GB. i_Xp/VistaUser
