This is the same version that was leaked back in Feb to RTM's 6.0.6001.1800.

They are both KB936330. So what Microsoft did was use the same one that they released to pc companies back in Feb. So if you already have the RTM version back in Feb then you don't need to uninstall that to install this one, because they are the exact same thing.

Probably a stupid question, but when it says language English (US) I assume this can be used on an English (British) Vista installation?

In Windows, the language English (United States) refers to system locale under Regional & Language Options. If you install it on a computer that is not U.S.-based you will lose the use of default British character set (letters, symbols, and numbers). In any case I doubt Windows will allow you to install Vista SP1 English (United States) version on a machine whose default language is English (United Kingdom).

With regard to SP1 I note that its size is 434mb but if it is downloaded via "Updates" it is only 66mb. How come there is such a difference in size? If I download via "Updates" will I still be getting the same material as the 434mb version?

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

Yes. The reason why there is a diff between the package and windows updates is the pacakge includes every update since vista came out and other the tweaks that come with sp1. The windows update version includes the sp1 tweaks that haven't came out in the past.

I prefer downloading & burning the bigger file to CD for two main reasons:

1. The whole installation time will be much shorter than Windows Update download & installation.

2. It's very handy especially when you have multiple computers that you want to update.

Thank you Cobra_R and XPUser... I think I'll go with the bigger file.
