MS isn't going to release the official service pack for Vista next Tuesday. What they are going to release is just a Release Candidate (What is that?) Personally I will wait for the OFFICIAL SP1 to roll out sometime in 2008. It's just that I don't wish to install anything RC or Beta ore initial release on my productivity laptop. i_Xp/VistaUser

Yeah, probably will install it, since they tell you to uninstall it prior to the official realease of the SP. You can also de-install it once the other one come out. Jim R

I never install beta's or RC's on my primary pc. There isn't a point because you will just have to uninstall it before installing the final version, unless you are a beta tester and test Beta or RC software on a secondary pc. Not to mention Beta's and RC's can have glitches or become unstable. Last thing I need is my primary pc crashing because of a Vista SP1 Beta or RC release......

Wait, an RC for a SP? How much testing do you need for a patch rollup? It shouldn't be THAT hard to figure out if you rolled them up in the correct order.

I believe the SP1 for Vista will be more than a patch rollup. I have read that it will also include enhancements for Vista defragmentation engine. Regards SuatCINI
