vista showning xp signs

my computer is vista
but recently its been showing signs of xp
or windows 2000 in the loading cursor and also the start bar will be vista then switch to windows 2000 for a while then back to vista.
anyway i can stop this?

Assuming what you say is really happening, I would run an anti virus and spyware scan, preferably in safe mode.

you know when a page or program is loading and the blue circle come up next to the cursor on vista.
well its showing the hourglass instead.
which i think is from xp or windows 2000

i dont think i can explain it much more
i dont really understand what the things are called

Ah, that makes sense. The spinning blue cirlce in Vista is part of Aero. If yours has been replaced by the old XP hourglass, Vista might be disabling some Aero features because your hardware can't keep up. What is your computer's vista performance rating? It can be found by right-clicking My Computer and selecting Properties.

Vista still displays the spinning blue circle even without Aero. I'm currently using Windows Classic display, and I still see the spinning blue circle.

if you mean the base rating then its 2.0
but its happening in the tool bar aswell.
and it happened to my old laptop which was xp and it changed to a windows 98 start bar
cant be the internet connection can it
i dont see how it could happen on both
