have you setup any dial up connections on your system? also, what type of hi-speed broadband do you have?

p.s. just out of curiosity, have you bought this PC with vista pre-installed?

Go into your network connection console & delete the dial-up connection if you have one created.

Also, run the "Setup a connection or network" wizard. It's in Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center, and choose the right option.

If you're not sure what your network config is, explain to us how your network is setup, and we can tell you what options to select.

you should return this PC and ask for your money back, selling a vista PC with 447 MB ram is ridiculous (512MB - 64 MB shared video memory - 640 kb conventional memory is shown 447 MB).

while XP would run smooth on this computer, Vista's min. requirement is 1024 MB ram, recommended 2048 MB ... i know, there's something like home basic or starter, but even with such crippleware you cannot expect any decent performance with so little memory in this computer.

System requirements for Home Basic are 512M of RAM, not a gig.

Not that this has any relevance whatsoever to the original poster's problem....

Good to see this thread has turned into yet another "Crap on Vista" diatribe. But apparently it's okay since the anti-vista comments are short.
