OS: Vista 32-bit
CPU/Ram: T7700 3-Gig
Model/Manufacturer: Fujitsu E8410P
Comment:

How exactly do I know if I'm running the Vista SP1?

I checked the auto download history, but nothing looking like the SP1 was registered.

Do I need to download it manually from the Windows Download Center?

Thanks.

Go to the Windows Orb (Start) type winver and press Enter.

If SP1 is installed it will display ‘Version 6.0 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1)’.

Vista SP1 won't be pushed out to everyone until sometime towards the middle or end of April so unless you downloaded and installed it, it shouldn't be there.

Thanks a lot lads. That cleared it up!

Turns out I only have the 6000 Build.

One more question: Is the upgrade worth it--beneficial?

Thanks.

Oh & BTW, the update did address a handful of credible issues for many folks!

I installed it on mine but since I wasn't having any problems and it didn't cause any problems then I don't see any difference.

This is news to me. Where did you hear it? Actually the reason why not everybody is getting Vista SP1 is summed up nicely in the following article.

Well that article says "Automatic update delivery, either through WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) or Windows Update, will come later."

I don't recall exactly where I read the mid to end of April part but I know I read is somewhere.

i've got vista running on 2 machines here and neither one got the auto update. maybe it just hasn't been pushed to everyone yet. Sometimes it takes a while to get it.

Regardless I had to manually download it on this computer to install it. I even checked Windows update and it wasn't there.

I didn't get it via the auto-update either.

I'll wait until the end of April and see if gets to me, automatically.

Thanks.
