When I first recieved my Acer laptop I too was confused. It seems you first have to make a D: partion then you can make recovery DVD's or cd's.

Try pursue the Head Office to hold off the order until you upgrade to Vista SP1 in early 2008. Tentatively speaking, Vista SP1 will include a handy tool for creating recovery DVD or CDs for those who cannot find the recovery options provided by Acer.

Otherwise RTFM or browse Acer Support site for documents related to creating Vista Recovery DVDs.

BTW Acer hides the recovery partition that cannot be copied by any means other than Acer recovery DVD creator.
