Comment: I'm running Vista Ultimate and, for the most part, things are running properly. I thought I would check with MSI and see if there was an update for the BIOS for my motherboard. When I got to their site and sent them the specifics of my MSI Motherboard, I was told that there was not a Vista BIOS update and also that my board had not yet been tested to be Vista Ready. They sent me back a note saying not to install Vista. Well I have and it is running. My question is this. Would the Vista Readiness Test not shown that my mainboard was not compatible with Vista. I never thought to look into the MSI motherboard when seeing if my system was Vista Ready. MSI listed several of their motherboards that were Vista Certified. I am sure they might be better but my thinking is that MSI is just wanting to sell another motherboard. As my version of Vista Ultimate is OEM, I don't plan on replacing my motherboard. Any thought would sure be appreciated!! Thank in advance.

Reply: (edit)The Vista Ready testing only checkes hardware not BIOSes. If a motherboard itself isn't Vista Ready it's normally due to an intergrated graphics procesor not being compatible with Vista. Reply: (edit)I thought no question was the wrong question. Not asking is the real wrong thing to do. Once I have and I ask again than I'm not only ignorant but stupid. As I haven't had any other problems, I tend to agree with Bryco. I don't have an integrated video card but rather an Nvidia 7600 so I don't think the problem is there.

Reply: (edit)I thought no question was the wrong question. No it isn't unless you habitually overdo it by not first doing some Google research & readup before asking quiz. i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)That is exactly what I did. I don't believe I have "habitually" overdone it. Not quite fair XpUser. We don't all have your expertise. I looked everywhere I could, contacted friends that knew more than I did, talked to students who are studying computer science and thought I would come to this forum for some assistance. I feel your comments are uncalled for!

Reply: (edit)If "for the most part, things are running properly" then it strikes me that the only thing you might need to look at is the other part. If you raise a post on this you might get a lot further. If there is no other part then I'd stop worrying. DerekW
