last night i tried RDP'ing to a Server2003 terminal server but wasnt able to connect due to a compatability issue. i dont remember the exact message but it basically said that it would not be able to connect to any machine with anything less than vista. is this by design? or do i have to use a different version of vista?

It depends. Yes, you can use Vista DRP to get to a Win2003 Server. BUT there are policy settings you can enforce to make sure the clients are of a certain level. Otherwise you probably just need to check the settings in your Vista RDP client before you click the Connect button - to make sure your authentication level is correct (under the Advanced tab).

I don't know if that's your problem or not. The key is that message you didn't remember. Get that message, start a new post, and someone should be able to answer it...
