Ok Vista RC1 does work on VMWare 5.5
to install:
download the vist rc1 iso (obvious i know)
install VMWare 5.5
start Vmware
make new virtual machine using Vista (experimental)
don`t worry about setting a fixed hard drive, it takes ages and isn`t absolutely necessaryset ETHERNET to NAT
before trying to install Vista close down VMWare, go to the location of the Virtual machine and add the following 2 lines to the Windows Vista (experimental).VMX
svga.maxWidth ="640"
svga.maxHeight ="480"
change usb.present ="TRUE"
to
change usb.present ="FALSE"Install Vista
once installed install VMWAR tools
shut down vista, exit VMWare then go to the location of the Virtual machine and remove the following 2 lines from the Windows Vista (experimental).VMX
svga.maxWidth ="640"
svga.maxHeight ="480"leave the USB Disabled.
This is from The VMWare forum and I fekt it deserved a wider audience.
my sound didn`t work until I went into device manager whereupon Vista took it on itself to ad the driver.
I hope this helps everyone trying to get it running.

Always proof-read carefully to see if you any words out.

Sure seems like a lot of work. I just installed it on MS virtual pc 2004 and it even installed the tools.
Can't say it is much use since the vitual video stinks.

It's faster on VMware and you get sound also :)
