Comment: Does anyone know why Vista would ask for my CD key again after I already installed it. I just tryed to do a repair install, and when it failed I booted back up normally and Vista says I need a new Product Key because the one it's reading is already in use. Does anyone know why this would happen and how to resolve this, because it looks like now I'll have to reinstall my whole OS and I don't want to if it will reject my key. alk

Reply: (edit)A repair install erases activation data stored on the computer. Therefore, your Windows becomes un-activated. When you try to re-activate it, you receive a message such that your product key is already in use, meaning that somebody - in this case you - was using that product key. You must make a call to MS automated activation call center to sort out the problem. Regards SuatCINI
