Subject: Vista Photo Gallery v Digital Image
OS: Vista Home Premium
CPU/Ram: 2GB
Model/Manufacturer: Self build
Comment:

I purchased the MS Digital Image Suite 2006. when I was using XP. I spent some time organising and labeling my many photographs into this database, I also found it's editing capabilities very good. Since changing to Vista Home Premium I was horrified to find that Vista's own Photo Gallery had captured or copied most of my photos from the Image Suite into it's own ''Gallery'' leaving the D.I.S. library in a mess, also the labels I gave the photos in D.I.S now do not work. plus there are dozens of photos that cannot be seen because it says ''Format not recognised''. As the D.I.S has superior editing facilities to the Photo Gallery I would much prefer to retain it if I can get it to work. According to the hand book the D.I.S should work on ''XP or Later'', am I wrong in supposing that means it should work in Vista?.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

check, what format your photos are, see if they are a different format than the ones that are working. You can see this if you right click on the photo (where its stored on the pc, npt photo gallery. If they are you will need a photo formating converter of the internet. look it up on google, it would be the most reliable and safest way of doing it, if you done such things as putting them into paint or print screens you could risk loosing pixils and resulution. also, the gallery 'should' only change file names or put the files in a big mess. well, it shouldn't change the names. but it should only make the mess inside the gallery, to tidy it up you can create folders to put them in. im sorry but i can't remeber how to do this. and you can change the names by clicking on the files name twice slowely. or click on the pic and press F2.

This should help you
