Vista OS, XP programs

Subject: Vista OS, XP programs
OS: Vista
CPU/Ram: Intel
Model/Manufacturer: Toshiba Tablet PC
Comment:
I have a client who purchased a Toshiba Tablet PC w/Vista OS. The programs he needs to use aren't compatible with Vista. Normally, i'd just reformat with XP, but Toshiba doesn't offer the XP drivers for this PC, only Vista. Is VMWare or MS Virtual PC the answer? If no XP drivers are available, does that mean XP won't run correctly if i use virtual software? He's got a 200+GB HD and 4GB RAM, so i don't believe hardware would be an issue.

What about running the programs in compatible mode for XP?

Medion MIM 2080
Toshiba T2130CT
Macintosh Performa 450

All working wonderfully.

Is that a mode that Vista offers? I'm not familiar with it. I personally don't own a Vista PC at all, so the only experience i have is just doing minor repair/networking. I just recall using VMWare or MS VPC in college and it worked great.

He could use VirtualBox or Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 in Vista to run XP without any problems.

I agree, installing AND also running in compatibility mode may solve the issue.

If not then consider a virtualized system.

If you had said the program we might even know a solution.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

I haven't gotten the specs on the PC yet. The client is out of town and I won't see the PC until next week. I'm not sure of what programs he's using either, I just know that they're sound/audio programs for controlling music equipment for concerts. I'll post more info when it comes available to me. Thanks for everyone's input!
