I recently setup two new Lenovo Vista boxes that replaced a few older win2k boxes. Everything went fine until I tried to network them together. It is very strange because they are on the network and I can get on the internet but then something happens and I get a limited connectivity error.
A= Vista box 1
B= Vista box 2
C = Old Win2k Pro box
One thing I think might be a problem is the fact I am using a old D-Link 514 wireless router and 520 Rev E wireless network cards. PC A will stay online off and on with the wireless card and on PC B it did the same thing with the wireless card but when I just plugged a network cable into it and disabled the wireless I can't get on the network at all. The entire time PC C is online with a wireless card.
During random connectivity I am not able to connect to shares on PC A from PC B but I am able to go from B to C. I am not able to ping PC A or B but I can ping C from A and B.
Is there a trick to sharing and networking two Vista boxes? I made sure the share is there, they are all in the same workgroup, I made sure to enable file sharing in the network properties box on Vista, and all boxes have the same two local accounts.
Or is the problem with the old D-Link router, does anyone know of compatibility problems with older routers? Currently the Vista boxes have IP4 and 6 installed and both are using DHCP.
I am at a loss here other than it being a old router problem or some trick to networking Vista boxes. If anyone can help me out here then a million blessings to you and your familiy :)
Thanks,
