When you click "send/receive," what error message are you getting - verbatim?

hi Sabertooth,
i got this error:

Task 'my e-mail address here - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

when pinging the DNS there is no replies.

something happen here, i configure to get my IP automatically, then i got replies from DNS for about 20 min.

i think there is some rule or policy that disables to get replies from DNS IP.

by the way, sometimes when i ping the DNS IP, i get just one reply then "Request timed out".

What version of Outlook - 2007?

I dunno if & just how much of a role Symantec is playing as far as your mail issue is concerned. However, if the machine was mine, here's what I'd do:

- Download Norton Removal Tool & completely rid the machine of Symantec. And instead, install an AV utility like Avast which also happens to be FREE.

- Delete & recreate the Outlook email account.

BTW, what firewall are you using - the built-in Windows Firewall or one from a third-party?

If you are using servers in the company the problem is that your system is using Home Premium. The Home versions do not have the networking capability to connect to a domain and communicate with servers. You would nee the Vista Business or Ultimate versions to connect.
