Every time I shut down and restart Vista, mouse speed settings revert to the default speed.
I'll pull out my crystal ball and see if I understand this:

yes, it worked right, then started this behavior. I found a fix from a web site something like this one. It worked right again for months, then started toi misbehave again. the last time, I did something with regedit. but i don't remember what it was.
