Subject: Vista just won't boot with new CPU?OS: MS Windows VistaCPU/Ram: AMD Athlon XP 3000+/1.5GB |
Comment: I've just upgraded my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ to a 3000+. After loads of not booting BIOS, messing with memory clock speed jumpers, I finally got the BIOS to recognise my processor, but now Windows won't boot, instead it gives me the following: "BlInitializeLibrary failed 0xc000003f". I'm sure all the hardware and the BIOS is good, the Motherboard (V400DBL) is rated for an XP 3000+ with 333MHz memory and the memory's definitely correct now (1.5GB PC2700 333MHz 3xDIMMs), it just seems to be Windows. If I shift the FSB jumper back to 133MHz (from 166MHz)everything works fine. I've tried typing the error string into Google and it doesn't appear in any of the results. Can anyone help, or do I really have to run my 3000+ as a 2400 :-( Thanks, Peter.

Reply: (edit)Is the DDR dropping in clock when you downclock the CPU? Have you tried running the setup at DDR266? Can the Athlon XP's even support DDR333 since their memory controller is built in? One of the really BAD things about using a built in MMU is that the RAM can not be upgraded since the MMU in the CPU cant support it. Just a guess.
