Comment: Hello, I hope someone could give me any clue. I am trying to use a cable LAN connection now on my new Win Vista Home and the internet is not working, it shows me only local. I have the firewall off, I put the IP 10.11.1.20 (I'm in Europe now) and the DNS provided by the network administrator (10.11.1.250), I put the proxy server, and still not working. Maybe it's an incopatibility. The internet is working well on another PC that uses win XP and same settings( this 2 computers are not on a network, I just want to change the cable from one to another). I haven't had problems in using the internet in U.S., wireless. Thank you.

Reply: (edit)Look at the connection settings on the other system. They offer a clue. This may not work if you have a router or other means that denies/allows a nic mac address. It may even be a type of logon connection. You'd have to consult the ISP's instruction to be sure. I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Reply: (edit)Check with your ISP, I tried to using the internet connect CD but it was not compatible with Vista. I called my ISP tech support and they said that they had to talk/walk everyone with Vista through the connection. It took about 10 minutes over the phone but it worked. The ISP stated that they will be making new installation software for internet connection in the near future.
