Internet fails/hangs intermittently several times/day, only rebooting restores it.
Only Internet is lost; machine can still see/grab files from other machines on the network.
Only this (Vista) machine affected, other (XP) machines can continue to browse.
Running Vista Business SP2, wired connection to Netgear router to cable modem.
Have so far tried all of the following with no improvement:
Disabled power management on the network adapter
Disabled IPv6 in NIC properties
Diagnosed and "Repair"ed connectoid
Checked for newer driver, Windows says current version is most up to date
Updated DNS server to OpenDNS, both this machine and router
Stopped/restarted Base Filter Engine in Services
Enabled upnp on router
Tried to update router firmware, says already most current
Added Registry keys per Microsoft KB article 928233 (Twice, once for each GUID instance)
Run ICRTool.exe (Internet Connection Repair)
Run MS Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool http://www.wxpnews.com/070403-Conne...
Run from a Command Prompt (DOS) box: ipconfig /renew
On the Network adapter changed IPv4 Checksum Offload from Rx & Tx Enabled to Disabled
On the Network adapter changed TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4) from Rx & Tx Enabled to Disabled
Ran TCPOptimizer.exe
Ran winsockfix.exe (this hosed the Internet, System Restore fixed but "did not complete successfully")

Some suggestions:
1) Change network cable, maybe there is problem on that network cable.
2) Connect this computer to other router port, maybe it's caused by faulty router port.
3) Connect this computer to other working router, see whether the problem persists, if yes then there is problem on this computer.
Hope it helps.

Too bad.. Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall network card driver? Maybe can try this if you have not done yet.
