I have a formatted internal HD on my Inspiron 1525 laptop that im attempting to do a clean installation of windows vista basic on it. I am trying to do this using the reinstallation cd that came with my computer. When I run from the DVD and install, I get to the "Where do you ant to install windows?" screen and I get an error message that says "Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are acceptable, and restart the installation. Error code: 0xE0000100" I dont know what to do to get passed this. Somebody please help me asap because I need my computer. Thanks so much in advance. Additional Details i did change the CD but the problem presist,, also i changed the SATA and nothing changed

i am tapping F12 at boot up to choose from where the system get too boot,,, at tapping F8 no options

when i boot from the CD that contains windows vista which came with my laptop there is an option called "repair my computer" and from there i choose the command prompt,, and there i formatted my HD,,

Error message when you use Windows Vista Setup to try to create a partition: "Error code: 0xE0000100" This problem occurs because Windows Vista setup does not recognize a partition if the last DWORD value of the partition size is 0. ... source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939... ... one remedy found on the "net" stated that he booted up with xp cd and deleted the partitions (Vista could of proceeded from here maybe)... but he installed xp ... then inserted Vista DVD with a positive install! ********************************************************* different solution here changing SATA operation from AHCI to ATA. . .
