Hi all,

Ive been looking at Vista for my laptop & PC. I need a certain amount of RAM to run this ,however a microsoft check on the PC comes up with 300 of ram only...although I have 512 installed!. Any ideas why this is?

Thanks .

May be the missing RAM is "stolen" as shared video memory by the graphic card.

Have cautions in upgrading that laptop to Vista as you could loose the Aero effects that so much boost Vista.

Some discrepancy with your RAM...

although I have 512 installed

Didn't you specify your PC statistic as CPU/Ram: 256

Which is correct?

Do you have an intergrated gpus in that system? If so then your IGP is taking 128 of your system ram from your main board.

Second of all I would not advise you to run Vista with 512mb of ram, you need at least 1gb. Installing Vista on 512mb of ram is a waste of time.

Nvidia 7900GT
