Comment:
I have Vista Home Premium, and I want to upgrade to Vista Business.
Here are my questions:
1.) Will I have to buy the whole version of Vista Business?
2.) Will the upgrade DVD work for a clean install?

Yes and yes. You will have to buy a cd key or new copy of vista operating system. Also with the upgrade you can do a clean install. Do a search in google for clean install of vista os.

I'm just curious-why do you want to upgrade to Vista Business ? I'm not sure it's really an "upgrade". Vista Home Premium has some features Vista Business does not have, and vice-versa.

I JUST discovered your post. I hope you have not already purchased the Vista Business upgrade. There is no upgrade path from Vista Home Basic OR Vista Home Premium to Vista Business. You CAN upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate. With Ultimate, you will retain the bells and whistles you currently have in 'Premium and you can join a domain. You do not, however, need to purchase another DVD. You can simply purchase an Ultimate License Key and use your existing media. ALL versions of Vista are on every DVD. The version that ultimately installs is determined by the license key you enter. You can buy Vista Home in a store and with that media install ultimate on any machine by electing to NOT enter a key during install. Vista will run for 30 (or 60) days then time out but there are tricks to run it for a complete year. Eventully, you need to enter the appropriate key you paid for.

superk,
Thanks for the reply. I have not purchased anything just yet. Although, the laptop did not come with the media, so i will have to buy the upgrade anyway. I think will go with ultimate as it will be easier to do the upgrade as well as make my boss happy that he will have the highest version of vista. (got to keep em happy eh?"
