Hi,
my friend has a laptop with Vista Home (i do not know the spec) recently under my computer the DVD drive has vanished, so i went into device manager and noticed a yellow exclamation mark next to the device, i tried to reinstall driver, but it didnt work, after this i uninstalled the driver, restarted windows in the hope that it would be detected by windows on startup but nothing happened, and now when i go into device manager theres nothing there, no yellow excal mark, no dvd drive, nothing, i have tried to detect the drive but it doesn work, any ideas how to solve this?
thanks,

open case, disconnect power and ribbon
cable.
boot up one time with out these connections.
then shut down, reattach.

The DVD drive might be bad. See if booting from a CD/DVD works. You might have to set the boot order to boot from the CD/DVD drive first.
Dress modestly, it shows people that you care about yourself.
