Vista caused my HP printer to stop printing

Specs: Windows Vista, unsure
I have a Dell XPS 420 computer with Vista (SUCKS) that my printer (HP PSC 1210 all in one) is connected to. Up until about a month ago, everything worked fine. Suddenly it no longer prints. I can scan and copy but not print. I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled, tried updating the driver, unplugging the USB - all to no avail. I have the disk for the printer and have used it to "help". I am ready to throw it all out! PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I'm not a computer expert, so please be very specific in any help you may give... Thanks!!!

'so please be very specific in any help you may give'

goes both ways - you have not been very specific! what actually happens when you try to print? Do you get any error messages on the PC? If so, what are they? Does nothing happen at all?
When you say you can scan and copy do you mean from the PC or just using the buttons on the printer? There are several things that may have happened:-

1. If the copy function is actually printing the copy, then the print functionality of the printer is ok.
2. if you can scan and copy from the PC, then the connectivity is ok. Otherwise it could be the USB cable or the printer's usb interface that's the problem. if its the interface then it would be cheaper to buy a new printer than having it repaired.

If 1 and 2 obtain, then likely problem is the print spooler service on the PC - but in this case you should have had error messages.

If you post back with additional information, we can hopefully help you.

I get no error messages - it does NOTHING when I try to print from the pc except to tell me that I need to add a printer. I can use the copy button on the printer to copy, the scan button on the printer doesn't work, but I can scan from Windows Photo Gallery or Adobe Photoshop Elements and import to the pc... hope this helps...

I. like Mrs. Adams have a HP printer D2360 series (I'm using Vista as well) that just stopped working. One day it was fine, then the next nothing.
It won't even print a test page any longer.

I've uninstalled, then installed printer a few times, but to no avail. I have unplugged, then plugged USB cable in several times. I've done the same with the power cord.

When I try to print anything, it just remains on my printers queue.

I don't recieve any error messages.

Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

I'm not an expert either.
