Are the CAB files for Vista installed automatically during a clean first time installation?

When i had windows XP i would copy the i386 folder (cab files) from the CD to my C:\
and adjust the source path in the registry to point to where the cab files were on my local machine.

HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version string "sourcepath" = c:\i386

That way I would never require the windows XP CD when i did installs of devices etc..

Now I want to install Vista Business on a machine and would like to do the same thing with copying the cab files to the machine and adjusting the registry to look on the local.

But when i go in the registry i dont see the source path to adjust for the cab files.

What files should i be copying from the Vista CD for the CAB file?

Where in the registry must i adjust for the source path of the CAB files when i copy them to local?

Does Vista no longer need the CAB files copies over to avoid using the CD for installations?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Vista does not require the instalation dvd in the drive when installing hardware or software.
Vista install is nothing like XP, it's more like an image of the operating system.
