Vista BSOD installing cd writing program

May 20, 2010 at 12:04:41
Specs: Vista
I have a kinda big problem with vista business on my laptop.
I tried to install a cd writing programme when all of a sudden blue screen of death happened. but not just for a moment, for several seconds then it rebooted. It show the loading scren, but it takes for about 2 minutes to load after about 60%. Then it goes to a black screen where I can only see a _ blinking. Nothing happens even after 10 minutes. I did try to change boot order in bios setup, but I do not dare to change other things there.
Please help I don't want to have it reinstalled. It's school propert until I finish my studies and if something happens I will have to pay for the repairs.

What was the " cd writing programme " you were installing when Vista BSODed ?

Can you boot into Safe Mode and do a system restore to a time before you attempted to install that cd writing programme ? For complete instruction, please see this or this.

Thanks for replying. At the beginning I could even get into safe mode but after a while it let me. It was Alcohol 120% the problem was some sort of programme to which windows tried to find an ideal programme so it could work. It always rebooted if I couldn't cancel it in time. I did a system restore, so everthing is ok now:)
