Subject: Vista Booting Problem !
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
CPU/Ram: Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo
Model/Manufacturer: Microsoft
Comment:

Hi ! Yesterday i purchased a New CPU and installed Vista Ultimate (DELL OEM). It worked well till this morning. BUT , later, it suddenly hanged and i was forced to Reboot. [ By that time, i inserted an external Hard Disk in the USB which contains Win XP in it, but i removed the jumper from that HDD ] ...

So i restarted and removed the External HDD... There the problem started. While booting OS, it showed few errors and refused to boot. I tried re-installing Vista. It installed well and even the desktop came. But after reboot, the same problem emerged again.

So, now i am confused and clueless. What shall i do now? I am now using my old PC and want to switch back to my new one soon.

The error message i got :

.
.
Find--set-root/bootmgr

WHEN I PREESSED A KEY, I GOT THE FOLLOWING MSG

How to fix this? Kindly guide me plz.

iw ould guess the xp was causing problems, format the visa hd and do not insert the xp exturnal. instal visa on a clean drive (formated not just writing over.) and see if u can restart vista. if u cant restart vista after a freash clean instal..then it is mostlikly a bad disk or a bad hd.

Always back up...I JUST LOST 287 gigs entertainment!

Why did you buy a new CPU (central processing unit) and is it compatable with you existing motherboard ??

Yeah.. By CPU , I mean Motherboard + Processor + RAM + Hard Disk. Collectively i used the term CPU ( i thought it was right ! :-D )...

Ok . .

I have already tried formatting and re-installing Vista. Even then, the same problem exists.

I tried via repair option in Vista DVD. It said that there is some error and it will fix it. Few seconds later, it asked for a reboot. But gain, while rebooting, the same thing happened and it said booting failed.

Install XP and then run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. It may be that the computer is not fit to run Windows Vista.
