I have been used to XP PRO for a long time ,but last night I used Vista for the first time and I thought it was
relatively stupid for someone that knows a bit about computers.
First of all I was given the task by a friend to teach him how to use it. I then found out his brand new HP notebook had viruses on it already thanks to his 14y.o neice. His NOD32 anti virus could not dtected
and I thought it was strange for a brand new notebook to have an out of date anti virus on it.
I then tried to delete that a.v and replace it with AVG. However after having difficult trying to find
"Add remove Programs" in control panel as compared to XP, the pc pretended that I had successfully deleted that av. However after putting my "no virus" usb stick in , his bloody brand new notebook rebooted itself. After re-boot that bloody
NOD32 , re-installed itself , how weird.

Noticing this stupid thing , I then decided to try simply installing AVG anyway and after clicking on avginstall , his bloody pc was doing nothing.

I said my friend the best thing to do is an fdisk an
let put XP PRO on it instead.

What do you guys think ?

You may not like what we think since you are the one who's going to be spending time on the machine & not us. Whatever you/your friend decide to do is fine with us. But be advised: XP Pro is not immune to viruses anymore than Vista is, if anything, it's less secure compared to Vista or Windows 7.

Good luck!
