Comment:

Microsoft Outlook keeps asking for the passwords for the e-mail accounts.

I have installed Microsoft Office XP on a new Desktop with Vista. I have set up e-mail accounts and checked save passwords. Each time I log on it keeps asking for the password. I have set up e-mail accounts from Win 95 to Win XP without problems thats why I wondered its an Vista problem not a problem with Microsoft Outlook. I looked for security settings preventing MO saving the passwords without success. I wondered whether it has anything to do with administrator rights. I have my own (and only) user account (with admin rights) but there is no option to log in as administrator (I would not know the password for such an account anyway although it is my own computer). Maybe it is a similar problem as one of the previous posts. Can anyone help?

You may be up the creek unless MS decides to release a "fix" for this known problem or unless you buy Outlook 2007 which works will with Vista (or so I'm told). This post

suggests a couple of things to try. Look here also: http://sbs.seandaniel.com/2004/10/a...

And here for an article about the problem:

Hope something in all this proves helpful.

Thanks very much for the links. Your first link didn't work for me but the other two explain it pretty well.

It is very frustrating!

But thanks for your response!

I've got exactly the same situation - Vista and Office XP. Does anyone know for sure that installing Office 2007 is a fix? Or is that just a guess?

Our computer came with Office 2007 pre-installed but it needs an activation code after so many days. I don't see the point to pay for an upgrade I don't need just because I have a new OS from M$.
As answer to your question: I guess MO 2007 will work with Vista unless they ship Vista with pre-installed software which does not work. I would not be surprised either.
