Hi, I bought a presario V6000 notebook with Windows Vista home basic pre-loaded in it.I also created the recovery disk using the recovery manager.
Now I want 2003 server and Vista dual boot. I installed 2003 server and configured it. But I can not install Vista because compaq provides only "restore to factory settings" option. If I do that, it will erase the whole drive. There is no such option to specify the path where Vista has to be installed.
Any ideas? I want 2003 server to run SAP and Vista for internet and entertainment.

Well if you bought compaq presario that has one hard drive, it came with windows vista upgrade disk. in theory, you should be able to install vista and then partition magic the drive into two partitions after that you should be able to format the other partition and install 2003. In theory, also I am not sure if partition magic works with vista yet.

Well, I'm no expert, but if all you have is a Compaq "Recovery Disk" and not a full Vista install disk, then I don't see how you can do what you want. As you have found out, if you install Win 2003 on a the same disk (in a separate partition??), it will wipe out your Vista and the same is true if you use your "Recovery Disk" to re-install Vista, it will wipe out your Win 2003. Looks like you are in a "Catch 22". Man, do I hate those "Recovery Disks".
