Hello,

I am currently using Windows Vista Beta 2 release 5384 and RealVNC for Windows free edition
version 4.11.

When i try to install it as a service i get access denied. I have found that this is due to vista
not allowing interactive services. When I run VNC in user mode, i always get that same "not
accepting incoming connections".

VNC and it's port 5900 for both tcp and udp have been opened within windows firewall and VNC is an
allowed program within windows defender. However, I still get this error.

I have also tried running the user mode of VNC with as admin and still no luck.

My question is, does anyone know of a solution to this?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Glenn Mitchell

I don't think it is compatible with Vista.

I just can't believe vista won't allow you to install a service. My guess is there is a way but we just don't know it. Pretty sure there is some talk of people disabling that part of security.??

I'm running Vista build 5472 and am having a similar issue with slightly different results. I don't get any error installing VNC Enterprise 4.1 as an Administrator, and everything seems to go smoothly even installing the service to allowing a rule for it automatically in Windows Firewall. However I get "Connection closed unexpectedly" when trying to connect. If I kill the service, launch the User-mode config as an Admin and setup my user account in Windows for authentication then go and run the user-mode Server as an Administrator then I am able to connect with no problem what so ever. I'm still trying to track down the difference of running it from within my Windows account in user mode as an Admin versus running it as a system service with my Windows account as the system credintial to run the service.
