Hi, i ordered all the stuff of the net to make a pc then my friend built it all.
He ordered my vista home premium 32bit OEM. I was fine with 2gb of ram at the time but now i want to be able to use 4gb (or close)of ram.
Anyway to figure out how much ram will show up in windows without buying any just to test it?
P.S. I have some friends who have 64bit vista ultimate and after they download a specific windows update (they dont know which update) there computer doesnt work. insead of going to the loading thing with the bars moving, it goes to a black screen and all you can see is the mouse.
A pc tech guy at a shop said this has been happaning a lot recently with his customers and only way to fix it is to reformat.
Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

A) no need to multi-post

Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website, there should be a memory FAQ on there.

1. the motherboard manual will tell you how much ram your motherboard will handle.
2. in order for vista to see ram above 3 gigs you have to go into your bios and enable memory remap feature.
