My dad just bought an E-Machine (model W3615) that was preloaded with Vista Home Premium. There are a couple games that he wants to play that are compatible with Vista but not with his onboard video card. His computer manual says it can take a PCIE video card but it doesn't say what speed. ie 8x, 16x etc....I was looking at putting this video card in http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ... but I don't know if this is compatible with his E-Machine. It says it's Vista ready so it should run dx10 fine. Anyone know if this might be compatible? Thanks.
Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHZ Venice Core
Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI Motherboard
1GB Geil DDR400 Dual Channel
ATI Radeon X800 GTO Fireblade Edition 256MB DDR PCIE

For one thing, I would highly recommending posting what games he wants to play so we can recommend the right video card.
Also, that card is NOT a DX10 card. It is DX9. That doesn't mean it won't run DX10 games, but it does not support DX10 effects.
Lastly, it would probably be better to loosen the purse strings a bit and get a decent performer. It shouldn't cost you that much more.

Even the 6600GT beats it soundly...
