im using vista home..i have the administrator's user and my personal user..the problem is i'm in my user account doing something then automatically shuts off then i went back & can't browse my user then.. i can logged in to my user but then in few seconds it shuts automatically..i did the full scanning&updating of my anti-virus using the admin user but then it's the same. the important thing is that i have a lot of files in my user account which i need & i dont hve any back ups of them..what seems to be the problem?can u help me?i need an immediate response..thank you!

You said that you logged as Administrator and did some scans. Does the computer shut down randomly when logged on to the administrator too? If not then you are still able to access the files stored under the user profile. It sounds like a corrupt user profile. Log on as Administrator, create a new user account. As administrator you can copy the files from the corrupt user account to the new user account. Don't copy the ntuser.dat files because that is likely the part that is corrupt. You can copy the favorites, desktop items, documents to the new profile. Then log on as the new user.

hi normajean47! thank you for your information..my computer doesn't shuts off using the administrator! may be you're right that it's possibly corrupt user..you know what i'm not a good computer troubleshooter but i will try your suggestions and il ask some friends to help me out with this. You're such a big help figuring out my mind on how to do with this cause i have lots in my user which I need..thank you!!!
