Just wondered if I upgreade to vista 64 bit can I then put more ram in without upgrading my mother board? I have 3.0 gig already and crucial memory said that I´m at my maximum memory.

You can't add more RAM than your motherboard is able to support. In addition to what Crucial has determined to be your max memory matrix, you can check with the motherboard manufacturer.
Regardless, you probably aren't in dire need of more memory with 3GB already installed on your machine - why do you think you do?

Hi Sabertooth, as you know things seem to be moving in the direction of the 64 bit os and I was just wondering if there were limitations to upgrading. The laptop I have is great and has no problems keeping up with all the programs I have, but my view is you can never know too much! Thanks for the reply.

You can't "UPGRADE" from a 32bit system to a 64bit system. If you're present xp version is 32bits then you will have to purchase a full vista version in order to get the 64bit system.

I have windows vista 32 bit already installed and realise that to upgrade the Os I will have to purchase the 64bit version. I also think that The Acer Aspire 5520 that I have is already capable of taking the 64bit Os.
