Updating USB driver?

Lately, when I start Vista I see a command prompt which says "Updating USB driver...please wait". I never saw this before. I have done some updates. Would this cause the box to appear? I've done regular Windows updates and I joined Microsoft Live and downloaded a program from Microsoft DreamSpark. In the process, I also had to install Compatibilty sofware and Direct X9.0C.
The updating USB driver command prompt box comes up every time I boot. What could be causing it? Thank you.

My guess would be some other installation like a webcam or other usb attached device. I suspect it isn't installing correctly. See event logs maybe. Might consider a restore point to a time when it worked if nothing else helps.
