Another problem for Sabertooth, I can't re-install my Trend software, because I installed Spybot, not knowing it was incompatible, it won't let me completely uninstall spybot, because there is still a link in the Registry, can you help please.

Spybot is indeed compatible with - and works with - Vista.

Spybot earned the right to have the software bore M$ Works with Windows Vista logo.To earn this logo the software has to pass extensive testings.

XpUser,

I am sure the OP was talking about Spybot & TrendMicro butting heads & not Spybot being incompatible with Vista.

Honestly, my suggestion would be to simply launch System Restore & revert your machine to a state before you installed Trend Micro, since it was installed last apparently.

Then uninstall Spybot, download CrapCleaner & clean out residual garbage on the system. Once that is cleaned out, install Trend Micro first, then reinstall Spybot.

I am not a fan of Trend Micro, but I use Spybot in conjunction with Spyware Terminator.

This is the best method for this issue imo. My advise is to go into your registry and get the rest of Spybot out yourself. But first before doing this, you need to backup your registry.

type regedit in the run command make sure all five main registry key folders are at "+" then go to edit, find. Type in Spybot and hit F3. If it highlights something delete it because that key is registerd to the left over spybot program. Then hit f3 again if it higlights something else delete it too and hit f3 again etc.. Repeat this process until it says search complete. This will get rid of any old registry keys related to the spybot program even registry programs may not pick up on. I had to do this to with a few of my programs in the past and it works. Just remember to backup your registry before doing it and pay careful attention when dealing with the registry.

To ensure that the registry finder is finding the spybot program each time it highlights something, you can take your mouse and hover over it, it will display the path along with the program name.

Sabertooth.
Thank you for your reply, I can't do what you suggest, because my system restore has stopped working again, and I have had trend since I bought the system, it was after I downloaded spybot that my troubles started, and I have been unable to uninstall either, it might mean having to do having to do a clean instal.
I think I will have to try what Cobra suggests,
but, I'm not sure I', experienced enough to do it.
Thank you Cobra
