Unable to print wirelessly

August 22, 2011 at 14:10:38
Specs: Windows ME/XP/Vista, Centrino
My XP SP2 laptop will connect to an HP laserjet 4 connected to a Windows ME desktop using Add a Printer and typing the network address \\maude\printer. I can then print wirelessly from my laptop to the laserjet. My wif'e's Vista Home Premium laptop won't. When trying to add a printer in the same way, we get the error message "Windows cannot connect to the printer...." and an error code of 0x00000034.

LaserJet 4's we're capable of using a JetDirect card (network card). Does yours have one installed?

Could the vista be 64 bit?

Also can you access shared file from the ME system? It might be network issues.

Dunno why the printer says that error.

Nope. It's connected directly to the ME desktop.

The Vista is a standard 32-bit AFAIAA.

Never tried sharing files. I usually copy any file I want on the other machine to a USB drive and use "sneakernet"....
