tweaking vista

wondering if anybody has any information on how to tweak my vista for better performance. already have black vipers tweaks but any more difficult or simple would be welcome.

1- System Properties/Advanced/Settings/Visual Effects: You can uncheck some of the tickboxes here.
2- Turn off Aero and Transparency.

Well i use tweakhound.com. It is a website that will tell you what services to stop or disable, also it will tell you how to disable to the eye candy in vista.

First & foremost, we need to know your system specifications. If you have an obviously sub-par system with overall deficient components for Vista, then the advice you receive may not do you much good.
Assuming you do have a machine capable to run Vista adequately, I'd suggest you update your installation to SP1. Then grab the Performance & Tuning pdf below & go through the steps outlined therein.

I never try how black vipers is working but so far I was very happy with the performance on my vista - the first I used vista was relly disappointing and planned to Downgrade for XP but finally i made it, Enjoyed all the Aero and Dream Scene with the Good performance on Vista OS , Faster Start Up and Shutdown, all that we need to do is modify some parameter on the Registry, For me, no OS can beat vista performance.
Summary: Got it fixed. I re installed vista and it's working now. I have NO idea what the problem was. I probably turned off some required service while trying to tweak vista or similar. Wouldn't be the first...
