I was wondering if it was possible to use a TV tuner in your computer to record movies or TV shows kind of like a TIVO. I was also wondering if it would work to record movies that was ordered (Like PPV movies). I know I should be able to record regular TV, but when I order movies im not sure if I would be able to record them. If I am able to record tv shows and movies with a tv tuner card, can some one please explain how?

Just install the TV Tuner card into your PC, then use the included cables to connect the card to Audio/Video out or S-Video out, probably on your satelite receiver. The card should come with software that can be used to record from the card. It should also come with instructions on how to use the card and software. A common problem I have is trying to find a video capture program that keeps both the audio and video in sync. The program that comes with the card may suffice, but in my experience, it has not. It may work differently for you, though. I've tried MANY MANY programs, and the one I've found that works the best is a freeware one called uBroadcast. If you want to burn the videos to DVD, it's a long process of reencoding to DVD format. If you have a fast PC, it shouldn't be a big deal. Nero works the best for that task that in my experience.

Roxio easy CD Creator's capture feature seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the audio and video in sync. I have an older version which does not allow for scheduling.
