Touchpad Cursor jumps when I start typing

July 6, 2010 at 03:47:16
Specs: Windows Vista

Hi All,
Looking for a bit of help please... The trouble i'm having is when i start typing. I'm roughly around 50 to 70 words a minute so reasonably fast. For some reason when i start typing the cursor will jump back to the beginning of the sentence or some times anywhere on the page and it continues to do this. I've tried disabling the touchpad when typing but this has no effect. As you can imagine its rather annoying
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dumb laptops. Some of then have an area around them that is supposed to help but one may be touching it and causing it.

Other idea is the case is being pushed enough to make some contact. Either flex or failure or bad connector or open wire..

i just got my computer fixed. before, i had windows vista. i never had this problem with the jumpy cursor. i now have windows 7, and i have the jumpy cursor. i also type fast and find it terribly annoying to have to fix words that suddenly have random letters, halves of various words, or entire sentences that get misplaced and dropped in the middle of other sentences. How can we solve this problem? I've looked on the "tips and tweaks" page on windows 7 website, but can't find the solution.

I have been having the same problems ever since I upgraded to windows 7. I did a clean install, but that shouldn't make a difference. I went to my computer's website (HP) and flashed the latest BIOS for my model and the problem is gone. I have an HP Pavilion dv7, but it might work for other brands. I hope this helps. It's a good idea to keep the BIOS up to date, so it's at least worth a try.
Good Luck! Traycejo
