November 15, 2010 at 12:54:05
Specs: Windows Vista
My old Toshiba won't boot anymore, the boot stop in "Starting Microsoft Windows" and don't go foward.

using the safe mode I could see that the boot stops in the "crcdisk.sys"

I haven't any boot or recovery CD here, and won't find any way to use USB to boot.

the problem apeared from nothing...

thanks

Try restoring to an early restore point.

F8 only gives me more aptions on the startup, the closest to "repair" is "repair mode directory services" wich just go to the same place them the other options, and stops.

I do not believe that you need a CD drive to use restore points.
I am however confused as you are now talking of recovery points.

If you want to recovery from the recovery partition on the hard drive then look here
http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/con...
Look at section 4 in the above pdf titled "HDD Recovery information for your Toshiba Computer"

if the above pdf is not available then use this link:
http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/con...

1. Make sure the computer is turned off.
2. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard
while powering on the computer. When the
computer powers on, the TOSHIBA HDD
Recovery Utility screen displays.

This is the same procedure as hinted in post #3

Have you tried the suggestion in post #1?
I can't figure that out from your responses.

Well... no I've even tried the suggestions in post #1 because I can't!

from link 1:
"If you can’t even get into windows, you can boot off the installation dvd, and choose the “Repair your computer”" - Any option like these ever show, the repair wizard won't appear

every thing I ever tried stops with the start of windows loading...

... not that old 3 years, bios battery (watch type) should last 5 years.

... seems odd to me that by booting up with a cd you still have a problem, even though you have a boot menu when you select cd drive if its not 1st in the boot order sequence in your bios it may be by passed(?), click above red underlined bios link.
