My new Notebook with pre-installed Vista came with a trial version of MS Works that now has expired. Before I buy the more preferable (to me) MS Office 2007 I tried to uninstall the expired MS Works through the control panel, but the computer won't allow me. Please advise.

In the Control Panel, after selecting the program and clicking on UNINSTALL, it says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
Then another pop-up says "you do not have sufficient access to uninstall Microsoft. Please contact system administrator."

Well logon as the Administrator & uninstall the application. But first enable the Admin account.
- Open the command prompt with Administrative privileges by opening the Start Menu & typing cmd in the search box, then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter or click the Start orb, All Programs, Accessories, right-click Command Prompt & select Run as administrator.
- Type the following in the command prompt & press Enter:
net user administrator /active:yes
- Restart your computer & logon as Administrator. When you are done, don't forget to disable the Admin account & do this from an account with administrative privileges but from the Administrator account that you logged in on. Oh & BTW, that command is below:
net user administrator /active:no

Once again, THANK YOU, Sabertooth! Worked like a charm. So easy when you know how. All that time I thought I had been operating as the Administrator (which apparently I wasn't)-- live & learn.
Gratefully,
IRAIRA
