Toshiba laptop power button not working

Specs: Windows 7
Toshiba laptop working just fine yesterday. Today, no response when I press the power button. What are my options?

It may not then start up so you'd have to consider getting data off right now.

It may need a new board of some kind either small or large.

Use the shutdown command.

A slim chance that some settings have changed. Bios and windows can control the off button function a bit. If you press and hold it, the system should crash to a stop. Not a great thing but in rare cases you have to do that.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
