I bought a Toshiba 4gig drive at what I thought was a beaut price (50% off). It has what is called a "TransMemory" Launchpad which is on a U3 smart drive. It effectively allows me to carry around compressed software applications.
I downloaded the Vista update for it and duly converted the drive to be Vista compatible however when I insert the drive it causes all sorts of problems in Vista in that the screen gets the jitters and it just makes its use unpleasant.
I figured I would delete the tiny partition that the LaunchPad is installed on (4.46meg) and just use it as a conventional 4gig drive which is what I wanted in the first place.
It has proved impossible... the drive is locked and althought I can see the contents I can't delete them or format the tiny partition... the remaining 3.something gig formats in the normal way.
Is there anyway outside of Windows (like a DOS programme for instance) I can use to achieve this?
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

From one site. "To remove and delete the U3 Launchpad, you need to download U3 Launchpad uninstallers or U3 Launchpad Removal Tool that remove the U3 Launchpad and re-configure the USB drive to be a single mass storage USB drive. Currently, U3 Launchpad uninstallers are only available for and must be run on Windows XP or Windows 2000 machine. When uninstalling, the U3 smart drives USB device has to be plugged in with U3 Launchpad running. "

Also has links to the programs.
There are plenty of linux users that fix that too.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Thank you Jefro... the link you provided went a long way to solving my problem however the uninstaller at that site was suitable for Sandisk compatible units only. I did a Google search and found a Toshiba uninstaller at this site:
Your assistance is much appreciated
PS: No wonder the unit was so cheap... by the tone of the forums I found no-one is very impressed with the U3 system at all! Just have a read at this blog:

Thank you The_Oracle. I was able to get an uninstaller at:
