I don't how many of you already know about this; I just discovered this gem today.
Creative's current Vista driver sucks, offering only the basic settings to adjust (such as volume, lol). The X-fi doesn't sound nearly as good under Vista as it does under XP since the Vista software doesn't allow for any sort of tweaking. Here's a modified version of X-Fi 2 drivers that runs on Vista.
It's a large download (450MB), and it's an ISO, so you'll need to burn it to a CD. It comes with all the stuff the XP software came with (Karaoke, Vienna, 3DMIDI, Wave Studio, etcetc). Sure, it's not an official Creative release, and it did cause a BSOD on one guy's computer during installation (I'm just warning the cautious folks on here), but once it's installed, it's worth it. I had absolutely no problems installing it. Once you've found your perfect settings, you'll have an X-fi that pumps out far better sound than what you can get with Creative's useless official Vista drivers.
Here's the link to the project's site:

And, (turn your computing.net images on) here's a screenshot that I took of my PC running the good old X-Fi control panel while pumping out some good 80's stuff on WMP11. ;)
Finally, listening to music with Vista is as good as it is with XP! So happy! lol.
