Theme changed suddenly, no system restore

March 5, 2011 at 21:16:29
Specs: Windows Vista Starter, 1 GB
My taskbar appearance has changed to the old version look (an off-white color bar). It used to be blue. I've tried to change the appearance in control panel and also a system restore but still nothing.

Also, the driver for sounds and network do not start. Even the security settings, I keep onr eceiving notifications that it is off. I tried to open it, but it says an error. I also did System Restore, but the system restore says there is an error to the shadow copy blah blah, and the next and back buttons are grayed out.

I tried to reformat it using the disc but it says error loading the drivers. Other software is fine, I can open Word, play games, but the sound icon has a red cross on it and also the network icon, it doesn't detect the wifi network.

Our Vista pc did just the same yesterday. It's all like win98 now, i can't change the theme into aero. Mine however, does find the wifi networks and works fine, but just the theme, i can't solve it. Please let me know if you make in progress in this.

Two Places to try. 1st, on your taskbar at the bottom of the screen, right click on it where there are no icons, and click "properties", then the "Start menu" tab. If classic theme is selected it will give you the older style, simply click the top option "start menu" instead of "classic start menu". 2nd place that affect appearances, try right clicking, thats right click "my computer", then select "properties" on the left select "Advanced system properties" that brings up the "System Properties" select the "advanced tab" and where it says performance click "settings" there you see of list of things that can be checked and unchecked as desired.
